The Worcester County Beekeepers Association (WCBA), the oldest county beekeeping association in the country, will be holding its 77th Annual Beekeeping School beginning March 7th, 2019. The school will run for eight Thursdays from 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM at the Grafton High School at 24 Providence Rd, Grafton, MA.

This school is appropriate for beginners and experienced beekeepers, an individual or the entire family. The fee to attend the school is $35 per student. Each enrollment includes a pro-rated WCBA membership through December 31st, 2019 and the WCBA Quarterly Newsletter. You will also receive a binder with a class syllabus and additional information, to use as a place to keep future classroom handouts. WCBA recommends new beekeeper students purchase a reference book, such as "Beekeeping for Dummies (4th Edition)". For returning students or experienced beekeepers, WCBA recommends "The Beekeeper's Handbook (4th Edition)"

Doors open March 7th, 2019 at 6:00 PM. Classes start promptly at 7:00 PM. The eight-week curriculum includes a variety of interesting lectures, hands-on experiences and outdoor workshops. Learn from the experiences of commercial as well as hobbyist beekeepers. Topics include Getting Started, Hive Management, Safety Equipment, and many others that are important to local beekeeping. Honey Bees are renowned for their economic value as pollinators of fruits, vegetables and other agricultural crops. As well as being important pollinators, honeybees collect pollen, produce royal jelly and propolis - all of which are used as dietary supplements. Honey Bees also produce beeswax that can be used for everything from candles to cosmetics.

WCBA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization aimed at educating the public on the Art of Apiculture.

The Worcester County Beekeepers Association has been a leader in beekeeping education for over one hundred years. We are the oldest county beekeeping organization in the United States, with members from all over New England. Through our beekeeping school, quarterly newsletters, monthly meetings and outreach activities, the club provides ongoing education for our members.
